The Hennepin Visitor Center utilizes the state of the on-site island to create an accessible skyway to a usually hard to reach plot of land. The skyway doubles as a museum space that uses strategically placed windows to focus an occupant’s gaze at certain aspects of Minneapolis history. Highlighted views include the historic mills, Mississippi River, and the city skyline. Program of the visitors center is a cafe open to the community, canoe rental, theater, and classrooms.
